The purpose of the Senior Community Service Employment Program is to help older workers help themselves by providing assistance to others in the community. Enrollees in Title V become members of the nation's workforce, once again contributing to the economic structure of the community.

The program provides for the training and employment of low-income persons who meet the following requirements:

  • must be age fifty-five (55) or older
  • must not exceed low income limits
  • be physically and mentally capable of employment

Enrollees work twenty (20) hours per week and earn no more than minimum wage. They work in a variety of non-profit or public organizations at no cost to these agencies. Through this service, self esteem is enhanced and permanent positions are identified for the worker wherever possible.
